We've been gardening for several years now. At first we went into our hives every week, now we let our bees do thier own thing for the most part. Last year we covered up our 5 super hive with tar paper to protect it from the winter weather but before then we managed to get some honey at the end of the Summer! We only took a few frames of honey as we wanted them to be a strong hive over the winter. Those jars went to family and friends and a few for ourselves! We do not sell our honey just enjoy it. This is more of an experience for us and not a business. This year we took off the tar paper and as soon as it warmed up so did the bee activity! Some of them swarmed off in the Spring and we didn't get to keep the swarm as we couldn't locate it, but we still have a strong hive 5 supers deep! They are usually seen when it is sunny out, foraging for pollen from our flowers and vegetables and the near by nurseries! We have a lot of blackberries on our hobby farm and know that our bees surely must enjoy them! Here are some photos of our bee experience so far! Our Bee Swarm last Summer! Hi,
Thanks for the invite to forum, we have been beekeeping for over five years now and our beekeeping has caused us to have many adventures.
We started blogging about our beekeeping from day one and this has lead us to create a podcast, so we have talked to beekeepers from all over the world.
I never thought beekeeping would allow us to connect with beekeepers around the world.

Hi Gary and Margaret! That is so cool that beekeeping has kept you connected with other beekeepers! What is the link to your blog so others may have a look? Do you have any advice for beginner beekeepers out there?
